The 2017 Governance handbook is here!
On Thursday 12 January 2017, the Department for Education (DfE) released its latest edition of the Governance Handbook. This handbook is an essential resource for governors and trustees as it outlines the roles and responsibilities for those governing including the legal duties of the governing board for all state schools in England. It also acts as a sign post for governance resources including many from the National Governors’ Association (NGA).
Summary of key changes
The Governance Handbook last underwent review in November 2015. With the 2017 update, as well as the content being revised to take account of changes made to the law and policy over the past year, the DfE have also given the handbook a complete restructure.
