Consultancy and Training Service

As part of our aim to promote effective governance, the NGA offers a consultancy and training service which is open to all governing boards in England.

We understand that all governing boards are different, and each will have their own unique training requirements. As we use consultants from a range of professional backgrounds with proven experience and expertise, we are able to offer quality assured bespoke training and consultancy.

The consultancy fee will depend on the services you require, but as we are a not-for-profit organisation we strive to offer the best prices possible for a professional bespoke service. Whatever your needs, we are confident that we will be able to tailor our services to meet them, so please do get in touch by emailing training@nga.org.uk.

General information

  • All our training is delivered by carefully recruited and quality assured consultants and trainers.
  • On commissioning a service from NGA, the consultant will contact you directly to ensure that the session meets your requirements and to arrange the best time for the session.
  • Most of our consultants are able to offer twilight, evening and Saturday morning sessions, often at short notice.
  • Consultants will need to be able to connect to a screen for the presentation aspect of the session, and will also need a flipchart and pens. Refreshments for participants are always very welcome.
  • Consultants will either bring with them the materials for the session, or will arrange for them to be delivered to the venue in good time.
  • Our fees are inclusive of the consultant’s travel, incidental expenses and materials. There will be no additional charges.
  • In the event that a client cancels a session, a cancellation fee will be charged to cover preparation and administration costs incurred.
  • We expect the clerk to the governing body and the school or academy senior leadership team to be present at our sessions.
  • Many of our sessions are suitable for both schools and academies and we usually use the term school to mean either.  Some of our sessions are also particularly suitable for groups of schools and/or academies to share.
  • Your feedback is important to us and we will circulate an electronic feedback survey to participants once the session has been delivered.  If there are any issues, we ask that you contact us without delay: Clare Collins (Lead Consultant) clare.collins@nga.org.uk or Paul Aber (Head of Training Development) paul.aber@nga.org.uk.
  • We value relationships and so if you would like a consultant you’ve already worked with to work with you again, please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate your request.
