The Department for Education’s Governance Support Working Group has been set up to support the Department for Education’s work to elevate the status of governance support within governing boards and more widely across the sector and highlight the importance of the role of governance professionals.
The group will have constructive dialogue and provide input into the Department’s governance support work including:
- the purpose of the governance support role and those undertaking it
- the proficiency levels required to enable the role to be undertaken effectively
- acting as a sounding board and influence improvements in school and academy governance support policy development
- acting as a channel of communication between schools and academy trusts to convey the work once it has been completed as agreed.
