Become a school governor or trustee
Want to make a difference in your local community, and develop your own professional skills in a board-level environment?
By volunteering as a school governor or trustee, you can do both and make a valuable contribution to children’s education, opportunities and futures. Being part of a governing board will give you experience of working at a strategic level and the opportunity to learn and practice skills that have a direct relevance to employers.

Everyone on Board: increasing governing board diversity
We campaign to improve the reflection of people from ethnic minorities and those aged under 40 on governing boards and have continued to work in partnership with organisations to deliver the aims. NGA’s Young Governors’ Network, supports volunteers aged under 40, and facilitates networking and the sharing of best practice.
