The special educational needs and disability (SEND) reforms came into force from 1 September 2014. The categories of School Action and School Action Plus have been replaced with a new system called special educational needs support. Statements will be replaced with integrated Education, Health and Care plans (EHC plans) and will apply to children and young persons aged 0-25. The Department for Education (DfE) has produced a document called Information for Governors and a slideshow.
The draft minutes from the Special School Governors’ Advisory Group meeting on 23 June 2014 are also now available. If any special school governors are interested in joining the group please contact Rani Kaur for more details.
