School governors, trustees and local academy committee members – we want to know about your experience of school governance, your views on topical education policy and how your governing board works.
Your answers to our annual survey, conducted in association with Tes, will make a significant contribution to helping us understand more about school governance in England. We’ll use the results to campaign on the issues that matter to you, amplify the voice of school governance across the education sector, and improve the support that we – and others – offer to governing boards.
Whatever your role on the governing board, however long you’ve been involved in governance, we value the views and experience of all governors, trustees and local academy committee members in England. You do not need to be an NGA member to take part. Please share the survey with others on your governing board and your wider networks!
Topics covered in the wide-ranging survey include:
- Why you govern – motivation and benefits
- Volunteer recruitment and development
- How your board operates
- Governing board diversity
- Your board’s experience of staffing, finance and school performance
Once you have started the survey, you can save and return to your answers whenever you like before submitting them. The survey closes on 13 June.
Depending on the answers you give, the survey will take between 20 and 30 minutes to complete.
Although this survey is for school governance volunteers, we really appreciate the support of clerks and executive leaders in sharing the survey with their board.
