The NGA is seeking chairs and vice chairs of governors to become 'Federation Champions' as part of our work to promote the option of maintained federations as both a sustainable alternative to or as a stepping stone to multi-academy trusts (MATs). Your main purpose as a Federation Champion would be to share your experiences with other governors who are considering federation, to dispel myths and discuss concerns they may have.
We are looking for chairs and vice chairs of federations willing to provide telephone advice and support to other governors. You will need to have been involved in the transition from being a stand-alone school to becoming a federation and need to be confident talking about how federations are set up, the different stakeholders and their roles, the discussions involved and the process. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about the advantages of federations, while being frank about any difficulties encountered and issues to overcome throughout the federation process.
As a Federation Champion we would put your name, photo and some basic information about your federation on a dedicated page of our website. At no point would we make your contact details public and we will ask schools to contact us via the firstname.lastname@example.org email address or by calling the NGA office if they would like to speak to a particular Federation Champion.
To thank you for taking part in this exciting new project we are offering you £60 off GOLD membership with the NGA or six months free standard membership for your governing body. This will include being able to put an NGA Federation Champion ‘badge’ on your school website.
If you would like to register your interest, please email Tom Fellows at email@example.com.
