Applications are now open for experienced governors, trustees, governance professionals and governance consultants to apply to become a National Leader of Governance (NLG), as part of the reformed support being delivered by the National Governance Association (NGA).

NGA will recruit, train and deploy a high calibre team to deliver this support. Applicants must meet the eligibility criteria set out by the DfE which requires substantial experience in improving governance in schools and/or trusts. NLGs are being recruited in all regions of England and those with experience in multi academy trust or faith school governance are particularly sought.
More information about the eligibility criteria, application process and payment is available on the NLG recruitment page. Applications are being invited until Thursday 26 July 2021.
Emma Balchin, director of professional development at NGA said “I am thrilled that we can now invite experienced governance professionals and volunteers to apply for this opportunity. Being an NLG is a fantastic way to further impact the education and wellbeing of children and young people by improving the effectiveness of governance in the schools and trusts which need it most. It offers a new challenge, a development opportunity and flexibility. Gaining NLG status through the reformed programme is a great recognition of the skills, experience and credibility you have developed through your dedication to school or trust governance.”
