NGA responds to Budget 2017

22/11/2017

Responding to the Budget 2017, delivered by the Chancellor of the Exchequer on 22 November 2017, Emma Knights, chief executive of National Governance Association, said:

“It is extremely disappointing that the Chancellor has failed to respond to the needs of schools and post-16 provision in the budget. Governors and trustees are acutely concerned about the impact of funding pressures on balancing their school budget and cite it as a significant challenge. The majority tell us that they cannot manage the pressure on their budget without negative impact on their pupils. This failure to increase the overall funding for schools is a failure to invest in the future of our children and young people. We will continue to campaign on behalf of governors, trustees – and their pupils – for proper funding for the future.”
