Session impact
The educational welfare of pupils is something that all governance revolves around, and the role of recruiting is no different.
It’s your responsibility as a board member to understand safer recruitment and apply this not only to recruiting senior leaders but throughout the school’s whole resourcing process.
We have designed this session to ensure you have all the knowledge and skills you need to achieve this.
The purpose of the session
All recruitment panels in schools are required to have on them someone who is trained in safer recruitment practices. Although governors and trustees will only be involved in the recruitment of senior leaders, they should ensure that enough board members are trained for this eventuality, and are aware of the parameters in which their own senior leaders are working.
At the end of this session, you will understand how to comply with safer recruitment practice, and how to implement it effectively.
