Governance Leadership Forum: Safeguarding the wellbeing of headteachers
NGA has organised this forum with HeadsUp4HTs, a rapidly growing network of headteachers across the UK committed to nurturing and campaigning for the emotional wellbeing of educational leaders.
Following the tragic suicide of Ruth Perry in January 2023, a collaboration between HeadsUp and University College London resulted in a research report on 'Headteachers' Experiences with OFSTED,' shedding light on both familiar and previously unknown insights into the impact of inspection processes on headteachers' wellbeing. The findings are sobering, yet they offer opportunities for learning and growth through explorations of the report's recommendations. Those who register for this forum will receive a copy of the report.
As governors and trustees invested in the wellbeing of your headteachers, we extend an invitation to a forum where James Pope of HeadsUp will provide a comprehensive understanding of the implications of their findings and alongside Fiona Fearon, NGA's Head of Policy and Research will offer practical strategies to support headteachers' emotional health as well as reducing unnecessary workload. We will make time to share experience and have questions answered.
