Katie is dual‑qualified as a solicitor and Chartered Company Secretary, providing expert governance, regulatory assurance and strategic development support to Local Authorities, maintained schools and federations, academies and multi‑academy trusts.
With over 25 years’ involvement in governance, Katie has served as a governance professional, governor and trustee in a wide range of settings. She has recently been elected to take over as Chair of a multi‑academy trust at the end of this academic year.
She regularly writes and speaks on governance issues and is the author of ‘How to Run an Academy School’, ‘ICSA Certificate in Academy Governance', ‘Handbook of Academy Governance’ and ‘Maximise your income: A guide for academies and schools’.
Katie is currently pursuing a Doctorate researching internal governance structures and schemes of delegation in multi-academy trusts.
