Matthew Emery
NGA Consultant
Matthew is experienced in facilitating training and development for governors, trustees, senior leaders and staff across a wide range of topics. This includes effective governance structures and roles, complaints management and appeals, pupil suspensions and exclusions, and Ofsted.
As an NGA consultant, Matthew provides external reviews of governance, along with a range of bespoke consultancy support on governance and leadership for multi academy trusts and schools.
Matthew has worked in education for 30 years. He has more than 20 years of experience in senior leadership in Catholic schools ranging from primary headship and executive headship.
Most recently, he served as the CEO of a MAT with nine primary schools and two secondary schools with a range of different contexts in North Birmingham.
Since retiring from his role as CEO, Matthew supports a Catholic multi academy trust as Head of Governance and Compliance. He has many years' experience of governance in different settings. He currently sits on the local governing board of an academy in Burton-on-Trent.
Matthew is committed to and has a particular interest in inclusion, equity and belonging and working with schools and trusts and their governing boards to promote these things.
