Jane Edminson

Jane was elected to the NGA board by members in the North-East in November 2024.

Jane was a National Leader of Governance (NLG) who, through the NLG programme, provided external reviews of governance and support for schools and academy trusts.

Jane has also delivered NGA’s Leading Governance development programmes for chairs. With over 20 years of experience in a local authority governor services team, she leads training, advice, and support for governors while managing the clerking team. Additionally, Jane works across the northeast region in a private capacity, offering training, support, and external reviews for maintained schools, local governing bodies, and trust boards.

Jane’s extensive governance experience includes serving on three boards. She has been a governor in the maintained sector since 2001 and has chaired boards since 2010. Currently, she is chair of two maintained primary school boards and vice chair of a virtual school. Her previous roles include being a governor and later co-chair of a secondary school board.
