Catherine Barratt
NGA Consultant
Catherine has been a consultant with NGA for three years. Formerly Head of Governance for a Local Authority divested company, she is currently governance lead in a growing Multi Academy Trust. She has been a Chair of Governors in both the maintained and academy sectors and served as a National Leader of Governance.
Catherine has worked with schools and trusts in a variety of ways, supporting both the governing board and governance professionals with training, governance reviews and advice on organisational change and development. Recent work includes managing trust growth projects, advising on effective governance structures, training and mentoring new chairs and governance professionals and designing and delivering bespoke training programmes for governing boards.
Catherine’s background in teaching has strongly influenced her approach to governance – a belief that governance is crucial in building a strong, inclusive organisational culture with its people at its heart.
