Mark Coppel
NGA Consultant

Mark is an NGA consultant providing governance reviews, training, and consultancy across all phases of education. He has supported trusts and schools to strengthen governance, facilitated NGA’s Leading Governance programmes for chairs and boards, and delivered training for governance professionals. A former National Leader of Governance, he has chaired a range of boards including interim executive boards and is currently a trustee of a 27-school multi academy trust.
Mark’s career background spans technology management, higher education, and creative learning. He has taught at the University of Sheffield Management School and worked as a business consultant. Since 2006, he has collaborated with local authorities, trusts, and schools to build effective governance.
Mark draws on practical experience and facilitation skills to help education leaders navigate complex challenges and support sustainable improvement in governance.
