Matt Miller MBE
NGA Consultant
Matt has been involved in school governance for over 25 years and was one of the original cohort of National Leaders of Governance in 2012. As an NGA consultant he undertakes external reviews of governance, delivers training, and supports the development of trust boards and maintained school governing bodies. He is an experienced trainer who takes a creative approach to engaging boards and governance professionals.
Since retiring as a senior detective in the Metropolitan Police, Matt has worked in the education sector, combining governance support with investigations into incidents and cases in schools. He has carried out reviews across MATs, maintained, special, and faith schools, chaired interim executive boards in challenging circumstances, and is experienced in chairing both maintained school governing bodies and local academy committees in MATs. He has also facilitated leadership days and delivered bespoke training for boards across the country.
Matt is also qualified in conflict resolution and was awarded an MBE in 2016 for services to education.
