Protecting your school against terrorism webinar
Protecting your school against terrorism
What school leaders and governing boards need to know.
Martyn’s Law, or to give it is full title, The Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025, became law on 3 April 2025. Schools have 24 months, so until approximately April 2027 to comply with this legislation. Martyn’s Law is not designed to add unnecessary complexity. Its purpose is to strengthen our foundations of safety and safeguarding. For schools, this provides an opportunity to review systems, reinforce good practice, and show continued commitment to keeping children safe in education.
In this webinar we will explain what the expectations of Martyn’s Law are, which schools it applies to and what school leaders and governing boards should be doing to prepare for this.
We will also look at the broader issues around the risks of terrorism impacting your school and how leaders and governors should have an integrated approach to this growing issue that reflects the school’s context and the communities you serve. We will explore how schools should proactively be preparing for and dealing with issues such as:
- Incel
- Safeguarding
- Radicalisation
- Cyber security
- Evacuations, Invacuations, and lockdowns
and what governing boards should be asking and doing to ensure such risks are being managed and prepared for effectively.
