Attendance is a key measure in schools, but are we having the right conversations about it? Should we instead be thinking about who is actually accessing education - even when attending, and if not why not? Governing boards play a crucial role in understanding attendance patterns, ensuring fair scrutiny, and supporting strategic responses that acknowledge the complexity of pupil absence.
