With the current number of governors and trustees below the age of 40 at an all-time low, the Young Governors Network (YGN) was an opportunity to ask those who are volunteering for their ideas on increasing this.

Jacob Powell (pictured right), at just 20 years old, is probably one of the youngest trustees out there. Jacob grew up in South Wales, attended a local comprehensive school, and is now studying for a master’s in engineering at the University of Cambridge.

“NGA’s 2022 annual governance survey found the number of governors and trustees below the age of 40 has halved over the past five years to just 6%. Meanwhile those governing under the age of 30 remains at just 1%''.
