This service has, for example, been commissioned by boards which:

  • have a new chair with little experience of the education sector who wants to learn fast
  • are in crisis and in need of rapid change and development
  • want to make a step change in their practice, such as changing their scheme of delegation, and need short-term support to expedite this
  • are responding to a negative Ofsted judgement and are required to make significant changes

The service provided will be bespoke to your school or trust’s context and circumstances. It includes:

  • the services of a named governance expert consultant for an extended period such as one year, with the option of extending the service on an annual basis
  • the promise that the consultant’s knowledge and experience will be matched to your school or trust’s needs
  • the opportunity to access the type of support you need when you need it – for instance, advice on strategy development, delegation or committee structures, coaching for leadership or difficult conversations, and guidance on matters of compliance
  • challenging and constructive support that recognises your board’s development journey
  • a minimum commitment of a number of hours per month of dedicated time, extended on an hourly or day-rate basis depending on your needs
  • access to NGA’s other services such as the GOLDline advice service for legal and technical matters, face-to-face or virtual face-to-face training on specific topics, and external reviews of governance, all of which would be negotiated on a case-by-case basis
  • Face-to-face and, or remote support
