A summary of updates to statutory safeguarding guidance.

The Department for Education (DfE) has published Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSiE) 2026. KCSiE is statutory safeguarding guidance for schools, and all governors and trustees are required to read and understand it.
Following consultation earlier this year, a number of changes have been made to the 2026 version.Â
Our summary provides more information on these changes, including:
- children questioning their gender
- mobile phones
- information sharing
- DBS checks
