This new session provides headteachers and other single academy trust leaders with the opportunity to build their understanding of how to work effectively with their trust board.

What are the benefits?

This session will equip you to play your part in governance well, focusing on your role and key areas of the relationship between you, other trust leaders and the trust board. Covering current themes, common challenges and realistic expectations, it explores how trust leaders can contribute to and benefit from good governance practice.

It will help you to make the most of the support and challenge available from your trustees to achieve effective governance, strong outcomes for pupils, a sustainable school organisation and a positive school culture.

How will you learn?

    • For the convenience of busy single academy trust leaders, this 90-minute standalone session focuses on the essentials and is delivered online at the end of the school day
    • It will be facilitated by a quality-assured NGA consultant with relevant governance experience of trust leadership and expertise in trust governance
    • The session will be interactive with a mixture of participant activities and facilitator-led explanation and discussion
    • It will be supported with session materials including a resource toolkit to help with next steps
    • The session will also identify opportunities for further professional development through other NGA training and services.
