Self-evaluation for governing boards
The DfE recommends that governing boards complete an annual self-evaluation to identify strengths and areas for development. The DfE also encourages trust boards to commission an external review of governance every three years.
NGA provides a range of support to help boards review their effectiveness and ensure they are:
- meeting their core responsibilities
- making a positive impact
- continuously improving
NGA’s online board self-evaluation
Our online self-evaluation helps boards to assess their impact, ways of working and how effectively they carry out their responsibilities. It supports boards to become more self-aware and identify where their practice could be developed.
The self-evaluation can be completed by all board members, senior executive leaders and the governance professional.
Our assessment tool provides detailed, confidential reports that highlight strengths and areas for development, helping boards to create a clear action plan.
