You can sign up with either of the following free recruitment services. These services work with schools and trusts to help them find volunteers.
Getting the right people around the table
Ensuring your board has a good blend of knowledge, skills, and experiences, along with a balanced and diverse set of views and backgrounds, is essential to driving school improvement.

Everyone on Board: increasing governing board diversity
The Everyone on Board campaign aims to increase the participation of people from ethnic minorities and young people in school governance.
Skills audit
Governing boards should conduct a skills audit to identify any specific gaps that need to be filled by new board members. Regular skills audits also enable the governing board to identify ongoing training needs and develop a responsive training plan.
A Competency Framework for Governance
The Competency Framework for Governance published by the Department for Education outlines the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed for effective governance in maintained schools, academies and multi academy trusts.
