Your governance framework: understanding your role and responsibilities
As a governor you are responsible for improving the educational standards of the school in which you govern; this is a unique position and you can make a real difference.
In order to ensure you have everything you need to do this, we have designed this training to help you understand exactly what is expected of you.
The purpose of the session
No one can be expected to perform their duties well if they do not have a clear understanding of what these duties are. At the end of this session, participants should have a thorough understanding of the framework in which they are governing and the extent of their strategic role and core responsibilities for ensuring that their school organisation achieves its purpose and vision.

Who should attend?
Governors of maintained schools. It is for suitable for a number of maintained schools to share.
Trustees of a single academy trust (SAT). It is suitable for a number of SATs to share.
This session will be bespoke for a multi academy trust so it can reflect the trust’s governance arrangements so is suitable for the trustees and academy committee members (LGBs) to all attend.
The clerk or company secretary is expected to attend.
The senior leadership team is expected to attend.
How will the session work?
This is a two hour session.
