Taking minutes: template and guidance
Use our minutes template to review your practice and ensure meetings are recorded clearly and transparently.
Governance professionals working at a clerking level are responsible for producing minutes which are a clear and accurate record of the meeting, provide a formal record, and allow those not in attendance to understand what took place.
The following template for governance professionals – together with guiding principles – covers the fundamentals of producing minutes and can be used to develop your own practice.
Use the template to:
- learn about the essential features of minutes
- highlight questioning, challenge and support from governors/trustees
- evidence governors/trustees fulfilling their strategic role
- clarify requirements for approving minutes
