Results day 2026: A-Level, T-Level and other vocational Level 3 results

Thousands of young people across England are receiving their A Level, AS Level, T Level and vocational Level 3 results today.

On behalf of governors, trustees and governance professionals, NGA congratulates every student on their hard work and determination.

This year’s results show:

  • Top grade trend continues - The number of grades issued at A and A* increased slightly, from 28.2% in 2025 to 28.7% this year. The number of pupils achieving A* has increased by almost 3.2% alone.
  • Regional disparity gets worse – The percentage of pupils in the North East and East Midlands who achieved top A-level grades was 23.1%, compared to 32.7% in London and 31.5% in the South East.
  • Boys outperform girls – Boys received 29.1% of top grades, compared to 28.3% for girls. This continues a trend that started last year.
  • Economics jumps in popularity – Going from the tenth most popular subject to fifth in a year, economics saw 43,121 entries with 70% of those being from boys.

“Today is a chance to celebrate the commitment, determination and perseverance shown by every student receiving their A-Level, T-Level and vocational results.

An immense level of effort and preparation goes into this phase of study, not only from students, but also from school leaders, teachers and support staff. We’re deeply grateful for your dedication and care in guiding young people through these important years.

We also thank the thousands of governors and trustees around the country for the vital role you play in helping students to succeed. Whether it’s ensuring high-quality teaching, learning and careers education, or making sure resources are directed to where they’re needed most, your work shows its true value on a day like today.

For some, results day will be an exciting and joyful occasion, while for others, we know today may bring challenges. For those who are disappointed, it’s important to remember that these results do not define your future.

No matter what outcome, governing and trust boards will continue to stand alongside school leaders, staff and families to help every young person to take the next step of their journey.

We wish the class of 2026 every success for the future.”
